As global oil supply constraints continue to define the energy market, Texas crude oil prices have surged, reflecting a renewed confidence in the state's oil sector.

On July 30, 2026, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil closed at $90.25 per barrel, marking a significant increase of 15% over the past month. Analysts attribute this spike to geopolitical tensions in key oil-producing regions, alongside ongoing production cuts from OPEC+ members.

The Texas Railroad Commission reported that state oil production is on track to reach 5.5 million barrels per day by the end of Q3, a notable recovery from pandemic-era lows. This resurgence is bolstered by companies such as Pioneer Natural Resources and EOG Resources, which have ramped up drilling activities in the Permian Basin.

"The stability we are seeing in Texas oil production is a testament to the resilience of our companies and workforce," commented Scott Sheffield, CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources. "We are optimizing our operations to meet both domestic demand and international pressures."

In addition to production increases, Texas refineries are also experiencing heightened activity. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Texas accounts for 31% of total U.S. refining capacity, with several plants reporting near-full utilization rates. This uptick in refining activity is expected to keep gasoline prices stable despite fluctuations in crude oil costs.

However, industry experts caution that the current bullish sentiment could be short-lived if supply disruptions do not stabilize. The ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe and uncertainties in the Middle East remain key factors that could lead to further volatility.

"While Texas stands to gain from higher prices, we must remain vigilant of external shocks that could unsettle our markets," said Dr. Sarah McLaughlin, an energy economist at the University of Texas at Austin.

As Texas continues to play a pivotal role in the global oil landscape, the state’s economic health is increasingly linked to international dynamics, making the upcoming months critical for stakeholders across the sector.
