The economic ripple effects are already being felt in local markets, with retail prices for beef rising by approximately 10% in the past six months. According to the Texas Beef Council, this trend may continue if feed prices do not stabilize.
Senator John Cornyn recently underscored the importance of supporting Texas ranchers through potential subsidies and grants aimed at offsetting rising operational costs. “Our ranchers are the backbone of Texas agriculture. We need to ensure they have the resources to thrive,” he said.
