As of mid-2026, reported cyber incidents have risen by 30% compared to the previous year, prompting state officials to act decisively. Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently announced a $10 million investment aimed at improving cybersecurity infrastructure across critical sectors, including energy, healthcare, and finance.
“Protecting our citizens and businesses from cyber threats is a top priority for my administration,” Governor Abbott stated during a press conference in Austin. “This investment will help strengthen our defenses and ensure that Texas remains a leader in cybersecurity.”
The funding will be allocated to various cybersecurity programs, including training for state employees, enhancing security protocols, and developing partnerships with local tech companies specialized in cybersecurity solutions. Notably, Austin-based firm SecureTech has been awarded a contract to develop advanced threat detection systems for state agencies.
