Fort Worth's industrial real estate market continues to thrive, driven by the surging demand for e-commerce logistics and distribution centers.
According to a recent report from JLL, Fort Worth's industrial sector has witnessed approximately 3.5 million square feet of new warehouse space leased in the first half of 2026 alone, reflecting a staggering 25% increase from the same period last year. This trend is primarily fueled by the ongoing shift towards online shopping, which has accelerated in the post-pandemic landscape.
Local economic analysts have noted that the city's strategic location, with proximity to major highways and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, makes it an attractive hub for logistics companies. "Fort Worth is quickly becoming a cornerstone for e-commerce distribution in Texas, and this growth is likely to continue as consumer habits evolve," said Mark Dyer, senior vice president at JLL.
Prominent companies such as Amazon, FedEx, and Walmart are expanding their operations in the region, contributing to the growing demand for industrial space. Amazon recently announced plans to build a new 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Fort Worth, which is expected to create over 1,500 jobs by early 2027.
However, while the industrial sector flourishes, some industry experts caution that the rapid growth could lead to challenges related to infrastructure and zoning. "The city needs to ensure that it has the appropriate infrastructure in place to support these developments. We don't want to see congestion issues arise as more trucks and delivery vehicles hit the roads," warned transportation planner Rebecca Chang.
In response, city officials have initiated discussions about potential upgrades to the transportation network, including road expansions and improvements to public transit options to accommodate the expected increase in logistics traffic.
Despite these challenges, the outlook for Fort Worth’s industrial real estate market remains bright. With a projected increase in e-commerce sales expected to reach $1 trillion by 2027, Fort Worth is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, ensuring continued growth in the industrial sector.
As companies adapt to changing consumer behaviors, the Fort Worth real estate market is likely to witness an ongoing demand for logistics and distribution facilities, further solidifying its status as a key player in Texas's economic landscape.
