The Texas General Land Office recently announced a $50 million grant program aimed at incentivizing research and development in CCS technologies. Companies such as Occidental Petroleum and Chevron are already investing heavily in CCS initiatives, with Occidental’s flagship project in the Permian Basin projected to capture up to 1 million tons of CO2 annually by 2027. This project aligns with the company’s broader goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Moreover, Texas A&M University is collaborating with leading energy firms to develop cutting-edge CCS technologies aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing costs. “The future of energy is about innovation,” said Dr. Sarah Lee, a lead researcher in the project. “With sufficient investment, we can make carbon capture economically viable and scalable.”
