With cyberattacks becoming more sophisticated and frequent, Texas's cybersecurity firms are experiencing a significant uptick in demand for their services.
According to a recent report by Cybersecurity Ventures, cybercrime is projected to cost the global economy over $10 trillion annually by 2025. In response, Texas companies like Alert Logic and Rapid7 are ramping up their operations to meet the needs of businesses seeking to bolster their defenses.
Alert Logic, headquartered in Houston, has reported a 50% increase in client inquiries since the beginning of 2026, as organizations seek to protect themselves against ransomware and data breaches. CEO Greg McDade stated, "Companies are finally recognizing that cybersecurity is not just an IT issue; it’s a fundamental part of business strategy."
In addition to established players, several startups are entering the market. SecureTex, a Dallas-based cybersecurity firm specializing in cloud security, recently secured $20 million in Series A funding to expand its services, highlighting investor confidence in the sector.
The Texas Cybersecurity Council is also ramping up efforts to address these growing threats. In a statement released last week, the council announced a new initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and private companies to create a robust cybersecurity framework.
"Collaboration is key to combating cyber threats effectively," said Dr. Linda Kwan, chair of the Texas Cybersecurity Council. "By working together, we can build a safer digital environment for all Texans."
